The Charlotte Harbor backcountry is one of the most desirable saltwater flyfishing destinations in our state. We have so many fish and so much clear water in which to "sight fish" them that fly anglers typically get more good shots at fish here than in most environments. With so many islands with their trees and other growth, we also have many options for avoiding the wind, increasing casting opportunities just that much more.
Snook and redfish are the prime targets but trout fishing on fly can be fantastic and once a hungry school is found, you might catch them until your arm can take no more. And if you have never bagged a west coast inshore slam (snook, redfish and trout) on fly, this is the place to try and do it. With our location, the fishing season lasts virtually all year, but consult with me about the prime times for flyfishing and we can put together a backcounrty trip you will always remember.
And if really big game is your goal, tarpon are the best way to tame your desires. From the backwaters to the beaches, these giants are suckers for a well-placed fly. Just give me an idea of your experience level with heavy fly tackle and we can plan your Silver King quest.
